Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2), by Marissa Meyer

Hey guys, this is Abi here,
I apologise in advance that I didn't manage to post anything yesterday, I was busy with work, and I went on the Big Wheel in Leicester, and went to TGI Fridays for the first time!
I still apologise though...
But I'm here now, so hooray!

And as you can see the title, I am just going to get on with my review!
Let's go!

Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2), by Marissa Meyer

Title: Scarlet
Author: Marissa Meyer
Genre: YA (Young Adult), Retellings and Sci-fi
Release Date: February 5th, 2013.
Pages: 451
Blurb: Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling instalment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison- even though if she succseeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.
Halfway across the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When scarlet encounters Wolf, a streetfighter that may have information to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her King, her prisoner.

WARNING: SPOILERS, DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE FINISHED THE BOOK

I fell back in to this world as easily as I fell into it the first time with Cinder, but this time with completely new characters and a new plotline, and this book was as fantastic as the first one.

Scarlet is set in France, and she is this hot-headed feisty girl who doesn't appear to be afraid to do anything to get her grandmother back from where she has been taken from, but, and I don't knowif this is just me, but I wanted more from this chharacter. Like, her feistyness (yes, I am saying feistyness), I waned that to be a part of why she made the decisions that she did. But as the story went on, she grew to be not just a person finding her grandmother, she became a protector and she learnt to love, which I thought was really sweet.

But this book doesn't just focus on Scarlet, oh no. It goes back to Cinder as well, and the transition is really smooth, but I'll get to that soon.
Cinder is in a ship, and also trying to find Scarlet's grandmother, but for a different reason (which is the same reason, but you find that out later),

The writing was as good as the first book, and the way Meyer just jumps from character to character is just incredible. When she jumped to a different character, I was like "Yay!", because I just loved seeing all these different scenarios that impact the plot so much.

And that brings me to the plot. The plot was pretty good, but I preferred Cinder's plot to this one, though, as I said before, the writing just made the plot seem so much better since, although I feel like I could see most of the plot twists coming from a mile away, mostly. There were a couple of things that took me by surprise, but not completely like the one in Cinder.

So overall, I really enjoyed this book, just not as much as Cinder, but I am really anticipating what happens in Cress, which is the next book, and apparently the best out of the best three, so I am really excited to be reading it.

So, that is my review for Scarlet, I hope you enjoyed it! Feel free to comment below what you think. whether you agree with my opinion, I love to hear from you! Will post something else, on Wednesday, see you then! Byeeee!
