Me Before You Film Review

Hey guys, this is Abi here,
And yesterday I saw Me Before You, so today I am going to be reviewing it!

Okay, I knew that this film was gonna be a tear-jerker because I finished the book not even a couple of months ago, and I started crying even then.
But I was not in any way prepared for the stream of tears that escaped my eyes whilst I was watching it- especially at the end. I actually wasn't the only one crying- everyone that I went with, bless them, were all crying, but I far was the worst (I was physically sobbing).

The fact that I read the book beforehand I think made the whole experience better to be honest. It just made what was happening in the story that much more tragic.

In terms of how it went from book to film, it was pretty flawless. Saying that, JoJo Moyes was the screenplayer, so the film was always going to be incredibly loyal to the book, which is good. They did change a couple of things, like Lou's story, and some of the details, and lines, but that would have been so they could fit the book into the time frame of what a film is. And considering the decisions that they made to get rid of to make it a film, I thought were good decisions.

The characters were perfectly casted in my opinion, they were totally and completely what I pictured them as in the book, and Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin played the characters perfectly. There was no faulting them, at all. (It might be because I saw the trailer before I read the book, but I actually don't think so). Just... perfect casting.

Okay, the music was just perfect. It wasn't like completely out there, but it helped you feel the emotions. It was subtle, that's the word. Just perfect.

If you can't already tell, I absolutely loved this film! Everything was flawless, I actually couldn't find any fault. So, that is all that I have for you guys today! I will see you all on wednesday, where I'm sorry but I'll be doing a review of Cross My Heart, Hope To Die, by Sara Shephard! (I finished it approximately an hour ago).

My Thoughts

Honestly, it was an okay read. I liked the concept of the whole thing, and the witty dialogue had me grinning throughout the whole book. 

I liked the characters, they were sweet, but they seemed kind of one sided, honestly. I wanted to see a different side, but they were kind of the same throughout the entire book, like they didn't really change much, and things that I normally like about these kind of books is that the characters have changed in some way. And I think that they kind of did, just not much. 

I'll say one thing though. This book was consistent. There wasn't a scene that I didn't like, whether that was because the plot progressed in some way, or because a new character was introduced, but I actually  did enjoy most of the scenes in the book. 

I say most because even though I did enjoy this book, it felt it kind of waned a bit at some of the parts. I felt like there were times when nothing exciting was happening, and I feel like with this sort of book, something should be happening. 

Also, I thought that I'd fly through this book, because that's the norm for me when I'm reading contemporary romances, but I just couldn't get excited about Never Always Sometimes. 

Don't get me wrong, I did quite enjoy this book, and I don't regret reading it, but  I just thought it would be better than it was. 

 So, those are my thoughts on Never Always Sometimes. I know that this review was basically just single sentences, but I really couldn't get excited about reviewing this book, because I didn't totally love this book either.

I think this book will contain spoilers, because I have quite a few thoughts on this book!
So here's the review!

My Thoughts

This book was definitely the best out of all of them. Things were happening right from the start, and they continued all the way through to the end. Plus, this book was a combination of laughs, action and moments that had me shocked, because I just wasn't expecting them.

For other things I was just like "Finally!" (Because they were things that I was anticipating for what seemed like the second book, and those that have read it know what I'm talking about). 

Everything was on point in this book: The characters, the plotline (keeping me hooked from the very start), the writing, and the cute/shocking dialogue had me on an emotional rollercoaster. 

The only other thing that I can say that won't spoil the plot (for those that haven't read it yet- you should all get on that by the way) is that is really does seem like Cassandra Clare does get better with every single book that she writes. 

So, that is all that I can say for the non-spoiler section, so those that haven't read the book, go read it, and then come back. So, bye!

Okay, so these were my thoughts on City of Heavenly Fire as I was reading it:

"-Oh Magnus "I need you to live", now I know why I love this series so much: The characters.

-Mix of emotions on Isabelle and her outburst: 1) Happy that she is done pretending she doesn't know what she knows, 2) Proud, because she decided to take control 3) Not sure if she should have revealed it the way she did, because Alec didn't know, and 4) Sad, because Max. 

-OMG, when Isabelle and Simon are doing stuff, and then Alec comes in and is like "It's MY bedroom." Laughed out loud! :D

-(Same scene as previous) That scene just fizzled out, but Isabelle still should have told Simon that Clary and Jace had gone through the portal, instead of just using him. 

-Raphael says "Your Jace"

Simon replies: "He's not my Jace" yes he is Simon :D

-Oh, Kyle... I feel sorry for Simon and Maia, less so for Maia because she was going to break up with him (despite the fact that I can kind of see Maia's point of view over why), but they still shouldn't be feeling guilty because Kyle made his own choices. It's like a pain, the shock that he died... 

-When Sebastian sneaks in to see Clary, why doesn't one just talk and distracts him, and then the other just hits him out of the blue? Two of the best Shadowhunters ever, and you can't do that? Why didn't you think of that, that would have been a lot funnier, and made the book shorter. Still loving the way this story is going though. 

-Isabelle, no!

-*Phew*

-I never really raated Alec as much as his sister, apart from his relationship with Magnus, which I loved. He was Jace's parabatai, but when he wants to stay to protect Magnus, and the fact that Isabelle let him, despite the fact that she knows it would most likely result in his almost inevitable death, just gave me a bunch of emotions! 1)I was like "No!" and 2)Aww, he wants to protect him, despite the fact that their not together, but that doesn't change anything, and 3) Aww!

-Again, I never really rated Alec as much as his sister, apart from his relationship with Magnus. He was Jace's parabatai, so they should be protecting each-other, but when he wants to stay to protect Magnus (because of his evil demon dad being well, evil) my heart literally melted, because I know what it would be like to be without my brother, and I wouldn't be able to do that, so I can see what he is offering to sacrifice, and it just makes me see him in a different light. 

But saying that, there isn't really anything that can top true love, plus the fact that they are such a close group, the group would literally never be the same if Alec left, but he still wants to do it. 

-Cassandra Clare, why do you make this so difficult? Your literally toying with two of my favourite characters here! (Magnus and Simon). 

-Magnus' and Alec's scenes make me cry every time, because they're so meaningful, heartbreaking and beautiful, all at once. 

-OMG! "The Mortal Instruments, really?" 

-Yay! Simon remembers some things!"

*Close the book*.

"Wait... where am I?"

So those were my thoughts on this book, the final instalment of the Mortal Instruments, by Cassandra Clare! I have to say that I thought this series is wonderful, and I seriosuly loved (most) of these books, but I did enjoy every single one of them for different reasons, and I'm sad that the series has come to an end!
