Hey guys, this is Abi here,
And it's been a while since I've worked on a post, but I'm back with my April Wrap Up (2022)!
I read a total of 7 books in April, (4 of which were Skulduggery Pleasant books but okay), and I'm very happy with that number.
Enjoy.
1. The Exact Opposite of Okay (The Exact Opposite of Okay #1), by Laura Steven
2. A Girl Called Shameless (The Exact Opposite of Okay #2), by Laura Steven
I had a lot of thoughts about this duology, so many that I had to do a review about them. For all my in-depth thoughts, you can find them here. But really, there's not a lot that I need to say, other then, I'm 99% sure that you'll see this duology in my Favourites Books of 2022 list at the end of the year because these books were everything that I wanted in this story and more. I loved everything that these books were, the issues they discussed, the characters, the writing, the plot... everything. 5 stars.
3. All Boys Aren't Blue, by George M. Johnson
Another "Want to read" book from my Goodreads shelf, I'm so happy I finally got to this. All Boys Aren't Blue is the YA memoir of George M. Johnson, where he explores his life and identity as a gay black man, in America. I found it to extremely honest, forgiving and inspiring. Everybody should read this, not just black and queer people. It left such an impact, even after finishing the last pace (which didn't long, because it's a short book- still insanely powerful though). Just, read it guys, if you haven't.
4. Skulduggery Pleasant (Skulduggery Pleasant #1), by Derek Landy
5. Playing With Fire (Skulduggery Pleasant #2), by Derek Landy
6. The Faceless Ones (Skulduggery Pleasant #3), by Derek Landy
7. Dark Days (Skulduggery Pleasant #4), by Derek Landy
The start of my ultra Skulduggery Pleasant re-read. The fifteenth and final book was released this month and as a final send off, I will be reading each one, one after another. Because I imagine this re-read will take me through to June, I won't be doing a TBR for this month, because I literally won't have time to fit in anything else. It was so wonderful to be able to jump back into the series for the last time (at least for a couple of years) because this series was everything to me, growing up. Some of my friends had Harry Potter as their childhood series, this series was that for me. It felt like I was returning home when I picked them up, and I am so excited to read the rest of them.
Okay, those are the books that I read in April! I hope you enjoyed reading about them, as always, let me know in the comments what you've been reading, and we can chat about them!
I hope you have a wonderful day and I'll see you all soon!
Byeeee!
